South Venice Scene

January through March is mild; pleasant days and cool nights with a scattering of short lived cold snaps. April and May are months of warm days and pleasant nights and quite dry. Good beach weather but the Gulf will still be cool, in the seventies. June will see the onset of nineties in the daytime; seventies at night. Mid month will see the beginning of the afternoon thunderstorms. In July, the Suncoast is well within the rainy season. This will last until mid- September with the summer pattern of near-daily afternoon thundershowers. The thunderstorms keep our summer temperatures in the comfortable range. October, November, and December are dry with hot to warm days and warm to mild nights. Myakka River State Park

Welcome to the Suncoast

A portion of southwest Florida from Tampa Bay to Charlotte Harbor, the Suncoast consists of Sarasota County, Manatee County, and parts of Charlotte County and Lee County.

Parks

The area parks are quite beautiful and offer bounteous opportunities for communing with nature. (Myakka River State Park left below)

Area Insight

The entire Suncoast is a water wonderland. We have the Gulf of Mexico, various bays, sounds, estuaries, rivers, creeks, lakes, and ponds. These waters teem with fish, birds, and other aquatic wildlife. Daily sightings include dolphins, manatees, brown pelicans, white pelicans, wood storks, bald eagles, ospreys, red shouldered hawks, white ibis, glossy ibis, great blue herons, green herons, yellow crowned night herons, black crowned night herons, great egret, snowy egret, cattle egret, sandhill cranes, stilts, oystercatchers, killdeer, sandpipers, various woodpeckers, plovers, gallinules, moorhens, limpkins,(see photo below) Limpkin quail, wild turkey, kites, kestrels, bitterns, ducks, anhinga, cormorants, terns, owls, raccoons, opossums, armidillo, red fox, lynx, cougar, feral pigs, whitetail deer, and many others.
